From the dark coastal city of A Coruña, Spain, Akouphenom has been forging their sound since 2014. The name itself refers to “tinnitus” – that lingering high-pitched noise left behind after being exposed to deafening volume. It's fitting, because what this band creates stays with you.

Following several demos and their full-length debut Death·Chaos·Void (2023), they now return with a new EP: Connections To The Erebus. Four tracks, 25 minutes. Not a long release – but it hits hard.

Right from the first second, it’s clear: this is aggressive, chaotic, and absolutely immersive. You’re pulled into the atmosphere instantly. It’s like being dragged down into the underground – you can almost smell the dust and decay. And it feels... right.

Akouphenom delivers a crushing mix of doom, death, and black metal – and they do it with conviction. The vocals are right where they should be: a torrent of rage and contempt. The guitars move between heavy, punishing riffs and dark undertones, with dynamic shifts that keep you on edge. The drums push everything forward with relentless precision.

The production deserves praise too: it’s dark, massive, and clear. It allows the details to shine through without losing any of the weight. Everything sounds real. Raw. Dangerous.

But it’s not all about sheer brutality. Tracks like “Abismo” and “Limbo” open the door to a deeper dimension – one of tension, atmosphere, and even beauty. “Abismo” is a stunning piece that draws you deeper into their world. “Limbo” closes the EP with a sparse, haunting piano section – simple, but powerful. It’s an unexpected and worthy ending to an intense journey.

The only downside? It’s over in 25 minutes. You’re left wanting more – and that may be the greatest sign of its strength. This EP hits hard as hell.

Conclusion

Connections To The Erebus is a deep and uncompromising release. It drips with raw power, dark beauty, and artistic intent. Akouphenom knows exactly what they want to express – and they deliver it with force. If you’re into music that challenges you and grabs you by the throat, this is an EP you don’t want to miss.

This isn’t just music – it’s an experience. And Akouphenom is a name you’ll be hearing more from.
