Intoxicated is one of those bands that has stayed under the radar long enough to feel almost unfair. Florida veterans with roots going back to the 90s, and with The Dome they deliver their third full-length ,30 minutes of death/thrash that doesn't waste your time.

The guitar work is the first thing that hits me. The riffs are good, dirty, and rooted in classic thrash tradition. It grinds and tears in that way that makes your neck move on its own. Not particularly original, but executed with conviction, and that counts for something.

The vocals are a pleasant surprise. They hit well within the genre without becoming a cliché of themselves , aggressive enough to match the music, but with enough personality to stand out. That balance is rare, especially in the death\trash area.

The production does a solid job,the drums are what really shine through the mix ,every blast beat lands exactly where it should, giving the whole sound a physical weight , it sounds more alive than flat.

The highlights for me are War Club and Unescaped. War Club in particular has a drive and a rawness that feels genuine. It's the kind of track you play again immediately after it ends.

But the album isn't without its weaknesses. Sever the Strings and Tighten Your Eyes fall a bit flat compared to the rest ,the riffs lack the edge that makes the best tracks so effective, and they don't leave much of an impression. On an album that's only 30 minutes, every track should pull its weight.

30 minutes is still a short ride. Some will call it compact and efficient , and it is, to a degree. But you're left wanting a bit more substance, something more to hold onto.

Rating: 6.5/10

I'll be spinning more albums — stay tuned!
